The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Saturday, January 28, 2023
at 1:05 pm.
The fire was located at 168 Main Street in a 3 story mixed-use occupancy. This occupancy consists of commercial use on the 1st floor and residential use on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Initial reports stated there was smoke coming from the building.
Upon arrival, Engine 1 and Truck 1 encountered smoke coming from the 2nd floor. The fire was extinguished in 25 minutes by a 1st alarm assignment consisting of 3 Engines, 2 Trucks, a 1 Rescue totaling 21 personnel.
The Red Cross is assisting 6 occupants displaced by this blaze. 4 apartments are uninhabitable due to smoke and heat damage. There is no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians. The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
