The Norwalk Fire Department responded to its second structure fire within 24 hours, this morning just after 1 am, at 259 Flax Hill Road. All occupants were out of the 3 story, 2 family home upon arrival of Firefighters and heavy fire was burning to the rear of the 2nd floor apartment. The fire destroyed a kitchen and bath/laundry area of the apartment, while the rest of the apartment and 3rd floor sustained high heat and smoke damage.
The American Red Cross relocated a Mother and 7 year old child from the 2nd floor apartment , and 3 adults from the 1st floor apartment. 25 Firefighters responded to the scene with 3 Engines, 2 Trucks a Rescue and Command Car. Deputy Fire Marshal Kirk McDonald is looking into the cause of the fire.
