Norwalk Fire Department
Press Release
December 22, 2014
The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a single car motor vehicle accident at the end of the Route 7 connector, Monday evening at 9:22pm. The car, a Mazda 3 was traveling northbound on the connector when it crossed Grist Mill Road and went up an embankment 40’ coming to rest 25’ from the roadway.
The driver, a woman in her early 20 was talking to Firefighters and Paramedics complaining of neck and back pain. She was removed from the car by Firefighters, then transported to Norwalk Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Fortunately for the driver, the Connecticut DOT removed the rock wall at the end of the connector in 2008 after several fatal accidents. The gradual inclining hill which was constructed in its place prevented this accident from being more serious.
