Good evening,
At approximately 1950 hours this evening, Norwalk Fire Dept. responded to a reported structure fire at 31 West Main Street. Numerous calls were received by Combined Dispatch stating flames are visible from the roof and occupants still inside. The first arriving truck company reported heavy smoke from the third floor and requested 2 additional engines. This structure is a 3 story 6 family residential building. Several occupants were assisted out of the building while hose lines were put in place. The fire was located in the attic of the third floor and extinguished. Red Cross was called to relocate some of the families. The fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s office. In all 33 firefighters were on scene, and mutual aid was called to cover any additional calls. There were no injuries at this time.
