Norwalk Fire Department responded to two house fires tonight the first fire came in at 5:42 pm at # 1 Cannon st, Upon arrival they were met with a car on fire in the driveway which had spread to the house and ignited the third floor. The outside of the home and the third floor were fully involved. All occupants were out of the home and there were no injuries. It took approximately 1 hour to bring under control. Five engines and two truck companies responded. With mutual aid from New Cannan, Rowayton and Westport covering the stations. The second fire came in just as FD had cleared from the first fire at 8:43 pm at 20 Larsen st. When fire fighters arrived there was heavy fire showing from the second and third floor. PD assisted in evacuating the residents. It was a stubborn fire and took approximately two hours to extinguish. The apartment house was posted unfit for occupancy and 15 people were displaced with the Red Cross putting them up for the night. One fire fighter was injured and transported to the hospital and one of the occupants suffered smoke inhalation. 7 engines and three trucks responded with mutual aid from Stamford, Wilton, New Cannon, Rowayton and Westport.
