Press Release
November 1, 2013
The Norwalk Fire Department responded to a report of a car into the building at 129 Harbor Ave at 1:07 am this morning. The Dodge Minivan traveling northbound left the roadway as it rounded a bend in the road and struck the front of the apartment building. The cars lone male driver was out of the vehicle upon arrival and was able to walk with Paramedics to the ambulance.
The car knocked out two windows to an apartment, a steel mail box, electrical power for the complex and a portion of the cement flower box in front of the building. The two women that were in the apartment that was struck were fortunately uninjured, even though they were sitting on a couch watching TV about 8 feet from the televison and the car impacted the wall behind the television.
Assistant building Inspector Joe Delallo checked the buildings structural integrity and CL& P disconnected power to the building, because the service wires were pulled from the electrical meter box. The buildings maintenance supervisor that lives in the complex was working to address the repairs. Firefighters cleared the scene by 1:45 am and Police remained to investigate the accident.
