Thursday, December 3, 2009 marks the 10 Year Anniversary of the Worcester Cold Storage fire that took the lives of 6 brothers of the Worcester, Massachussetts Fire Department. These brave men died in the line of duty while trying to locate missing civilians and other missing firemen in a vacant cold storage building heavily involved in fire. Let us not take their sacrifices for granted and remember them on this day and always.

"I have no ambition in this world but one, and that is to be a fireman. The position may, in the eyes of some, appear to be a lowly one; but we who know the work which the fireman has to do believe that his is a noble calling. Our proudest moment is to save lives. Under the impulse of such thoughts, the nobility of the occupation thrills us and stimulates us to deeds of daring, even of supreme sacrifice."
Chief Edward F. Croker, FDNY circa 1910
